Some of My Favorite Songs since December 2021

Hello!

I’ve been listening to a lot of good songs recently because a lot of my favorites are releasing music. So I decided to compile all of the music videos that I watched and wrote about in my journal and just put them in one post together.

These are not the only songs that I’ve loved and played on repeat this year but they are the ones released by some of my favorite artists. I might make a post about the other songs that I’ve loved next time.

From the teasers I’ve watched, I knew that this song was going to be a bop. I’m so glad that it didn’t disappoint.

This song felt a bit familiar and nostalgic. It felt like a Twice song (around their earlier releases) with the cute and bubbly vibe. But there were also parts when I thought it had an Itzy vibe. I guess Nayeon really wanted to showcase her versatility and talents for her solo debut.

I think that this song is really good for performance because it showcased her dancing skills while showcasing her vocal skills. It seemed like this song used a key that was suited for her since she didn’t seem like she struggled to sing while performing.

I also liked seeing her dancing to this song with other artists on Tiktok and Instagram.

I’m looking forward to listening to the rest of her album because this song was really good and I keep putting it on repeat.

LEFT AND RIGHT BY CHARLIE PUTH FEAT. JUNGKOOK

I waited for this song since I first saw a teaser posted by Charlie Puth on Tiktok. So I was so excited to finally listen to it and watch the music video. And it was so worth the wait.

I immediately loved the song. It’s so nice to listen to and it’s so catchy. I especially love the parts when they sing “I can feel you over here, I can feel you over hear” and “Oh, no (Oh, no)” and you hear the first parts on your left ear and the second parts on your right ear when you listen to it through headsets or earphones. Those parts kept giving me the chills because it sounds like they’re singing right beside you.

I really love the song. Jungkook is also so cute in the music video. He seems so happy and playful. Also, their voices complemented each other really well.

I also like that the music video made sense. The song seems to be about trying to move on from a relationship but moving on is hard because it’s hard to forget the person. In the music video, Charlie Puth is talking to a Psychologist and Jungkook seems like an imaginary person or a part of memory since Charlie Puth seems like he’s the only one who sees Jungkook.

I really love this song and I will probably listen to it on repeat for a while.

YET TO COME (THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MOMENT) BY BTS

I watched the music video a day after its release and oh my gosh, I loved it. I love the song and the music video and I thought it was really fitting that it is the title track of their anthology album.

The song and music video felt personal and like they were letting us know how they think and feel about their journey to success. It also feels nostalgic because of the references to their older songs and music videos. I got excited every time I recognized the references.

After initially listening to it a couple of times, I thought that this song was hinting at a new chapter for them as artists since they’re currently celebrating nine years since their debut. This made me feel excited about their future releases because they’ll keep improving since they said that their best is yet to come.

Then after a couple of days, on their debut anniversary day, it was announced that they will be taking a break from group activities to focus on their personal and individual growth as people and as artists. So the song kind of felt like a see you later after that revelation. I was a bit sad when I found out but I was also happy for them that they are taking a break for themselves after working so hard non-stop for so long. 

So, I’m looking forward to the day that they’ll make a comeback together again as a group. I’m looking forward that it’ll be better than ever. I hope they will continue to make music together as a group for a long time because their songs have really brought me joy ever since I was introduced to their music.

NANANA BY GOT7

I like this song. It helped me decide that I will purchase the physical album after deliberating whether I should buy it or not.

Listening to this song reminded me of the time when Got7 was the group that I followed and supported the most. I think that this song had a similar vibe to “Look” and “Lullaby” eras because of the visuals and “Breath” and “Last Piece” era in terms of musicality.

Hearing this song, it really screamed Got7 to me because I think that they kind of have a signature style in their music and this song had that for me.

This song took me back to that time when I discovered Got7 and they were the only group that I stanned. I hope they can continue making music together for longer. I guess this proved to me that a part of me will always stay as an Aghase even if I may not follow them as closely as before.

ANYMORE BY JEON SOMI

I first heard this song on Spotify when I listened to her full album (“XOXO”). It immediately became one of my favorite songs on that album.

So last December, when I noticed that she had released a music video for this song, I watched it as soon as possible and liked it. I thought that it was able to capture the song’s lyrics and emotions well. You really feel the sadness and heartbreak while looking at Somi’s acting and while looking at the aesthetics of the video. But then there was a portion near the end of the video when you see Somi smiling, hopping, and walking around the place filled with fairy lights that made you feel that regardless of her sadness and heartbreak, she was still hoping that the person who left her still thinks about her and that someday that person will come back.

I’ve watched this music video a lot and there was a time that I played it on repeat even if it isn’t a dancing or performance type of video which are the types of videos I typically watch on repeat.

Thoughts: “Not By The Moon” by Got7, “Eight” by IU (Prod. & Feat. Suga of BTS), and “Knock” by Astro

For this post, I just wanted to talk about three music videos that I’ve watched so far this May. These are not the only music videos that I’ve watched so far this month but these are music videos that I’ve watched for the first time since they’ve been released.

Given that I love these artists, I tried to write unbiased thoughts about their recent releases. I tried to write them as soon as I watched and listened to the music videos so that my thoughts would be my initial reactions and feelings. Doing this prevented me from listening to the songs too much until they grew on me.

So moving on…

“Not By The Moon” by Got7

This was released around April but I only got to watch and listen to the song around May 3 because when it was released, I wasn’t really in the mood for listening to it because I just finished watching Bang Bang Con the weekend before the release. Also, I guess I missed the release date even if I saw the teasers for this. I don’t really know why I didn’t even know it was released the day that it was. I only found out because I came across the music video on Youtube and I was seeing snippets of it all over social media. But then again, I still didn’t watch it until I felt like it because I wanted to give it a chance and not have my mood affect my appreciation for the song.

Anyways…

In the music video, I thought that they kind of looked like kings or princes. They had very regal and expensive-looking aesthetics where everything felt very fancy or classy. I also liked the minimal use of colors and the light and dark contrasting aesthetic. I also loved the ending scene in the moving carriage.

As for the performance video which I watched after watching the music video a couple of times, I loved the smooth movements and that each member was highlighted during their parts. However, I honestly thought that some movements seemed a bit awkward-looking.

Moving on to what I think “Dye” and “Not By The Moon” means…

From the song, I think that “Dye” means being imprinted in the heart. It’s making a mark on someone. I also think that it could mean bringing color or meaning in someone’s life. As for “Not By The Moon”, I think it meant that they wanted a lasting kind of love. Since the moon changes (i.e., different phases), if you swear by it, there might be a possibility that the promise will end when the moon changes. And they wanted the person (or Aghases) to love them forever or give them lasting love.

All in all, I think I don’t think I love this song as much as “You Calling My Name” but I think I still prefer it over “Eclipse”.

“Eight” by IU (Prod. & Feat. Suga of BTS)

I watched and listened to this song the same day that it came out which was on May 6. I saw it on my Youtube home feed and I clicked on it.

I actually really liked this song because it sounded so chill and light. It kinda makes you feel good and hopeful. I didn’t get to understand how meaningful the song was until the following day when I got to watch it with subtitles and I got to learn the meaning behind some of the animated characters (i.e., girl in white is Sulli and lizard turned dragon is Jonghyun). I’m not sure how true this is but I kept seeing this theory in my social media feeds and I thought it made sense seeing how according to the theory, there was a lot of allusions to the looks or favorites of her two late friends. If these theories are true, I think that the song is such a beautiful tribute to them and it seems kind of healing because it felt like letting them go but at the same time, remembering them and keeping them in your heart.

I think the message was that she’s kind of happy and hopeful that they (or someone else) are in a happier and better place now but she also feels sad that they’re not with her anymore. I also think that she’s saying that there’s no permanent goodbyes and that they’ll be reunited again some day.

Aside from the song and its meaning, I also loved the video’s aesthetics. The use of different animations and live action was brilliant because I think it really helped in setting the story. I also loved the contrasting use of the futuristic and nature scenes. 

I also loved Suga’s rap which transitioned to singing.

I’m more impressed with them after this collaboration because they were really able to really make us feel the sadness and hopefulness after experiencing something so heartbreaking.

“Knock” by Astro

This was released on May 4 but I got to watch it on May 10. I wasn’t able to watch and listen to it right away for because for a similar reason as to why I didn’t watch or listen to “Not By The Moon” right away. The only difference was that I knew when this was going to be released prior to its release date.

The music video aesthetics was one of the things that really captured my interest. I thought that it was really beautiful and the dark and light contrast was really able to highlight the muted colors and the members’ visuals. I also liked the space concept that’s very fitting of their group name.

I have two thoughts about the song’s meaning. 

First is that it could be about a couple’s breakup but the guy wants to get back together because when they broke up, his world seemed to get darker since his life probably became lonely and things probably started not being okay. I think he believes that if they reconcile, everything would be okay again.

Another meaning is that it could be connected to “One & Only”. This could be a message to Arohas that as long as they are there, they are happy and okay.

All in all, I’m not sure if I really loved this song because I didn’t really love the chorus part. I’m not really sure why but it might be because it felt a bit out of place for me given the feel of the song. Also, it seemed a bit loud and in your face compared to the rest of the song.

All in all, I think these three songs kind of have different feels to them which could appeal to different people or moods. Personally, I think I would listen to “Eight” more just because I think it suits my preference more than “Not By The Moon” and “Knock”.

Thoughts: Got7’s “Miracle” music video

So this week, Got7 released their “Miracle” music video from their PRESENT: You & Me album.

I wasn’t able to watch it nor listen to it as soon as it was released because this week was a bit hectic for me.

So today, I was so excited to be able to finally watch it.

One of the first things that I thought of was that the intro kind of reminded me of “Just Right”. It reminded me of that because of the little girl. The moods of the two songs are very different but the little girl in the intro and Got7 interacting with her throughout the video just reminded me of “Just Right”.

The second thing that I thought of was that it also reminded me of “Confession Song”. Both songs were released around the Christmas season and they are both ballads.

The third thing is that I think that it could be another song that they made for their fans. They’re usually sweet and thankful for their fans for supporting them and being with them. And if I remember correctly, they have already written songs for their fans before.

Looking at it from that angle, the song seems to express how thankful they are to their fans for staying with them and giving them support. Also, it seems to ask their fans to continue staying with them and supporting them.

I think that the song’s message is beautiful because it’s recognizing the person or people who are there for you. I think that it’s so sweet and touching and it makes me so proud to be one of their fans.

Finally, and I think I’ve mentioned this in all of my posts about Got7, they looked really good in this music video. Especially the part where they were all wearing white. They looked like angels wearing their white outfits. The music video kind of showed them as angels to the little girl which they kind of are in real life. They’re usually protective of their fans and shows them their love in different ways.

Thoughts: Got7’s “Lullaby” music video

Hello!

So Got7’s new music video “Lullaby” has finally came out a couple of days ago.

I was able to watch it a few hours after it came out but since I was super busy during the week, I was only able to write a bit about it now.

Anyways…

I think that the wait was definitely worth it. And that I really hope that they win a lot of awards for this comeback.

I was surprised when the music video teaser came out because I wasn’t expecting it to be a bop. I was expecting it to be more of a ballad or something slower, more calm. I didn’t really expect it to be an upbeat song because of the title and the teaser photos.

And when I was finally able to watch the music video, I couldn’t stop replaying it because of how catchy it was. And I think that they all looked really good in the music video.

I also really loved that they made an English version of the song because then I wouldn’t need to read the subtitles during the music video. I can watch it in peace. (They also made Chinese and Spanish versions if you’re interested.)

Thoughts: Got7’s “Look” music video

As I mentioned before, I wanted to write about Got7’s “Look” music video.

I was able to watch it the day it was released. I didn’t let the day end without watching it for a couple of times. And let me tell you now that it was such a good stress reliever for me. I watched it after coming home from the office and since it was such a lively and upbeat song, it immediately helped me cheer up and feel really happy.

I also loved that they all seemed to get a fair amount of lines and screen time. It seemed to me that all of them were able to shine in the music video.

I also loved how the song seems to be a song that seems like they’re talking to someone special but at the same time, it could also be a song for their fans. I guess it just depends on how you want to interpret it?

Anyway… I really, really love the song and music video. I have been watching it everyday because 1) I want to support them in their comeback by helping the views go higher and 2) because it’s a new song that I love and usually, when I love a song, I repeatedly listen to it until I want to listen to something else.

I’m really sorry that this post is so short. I’m having difficulties when it comes to writing these days but I still want to continue writing even if it’s just for a little bit because it helps me relax. I feel like it helps me clear my thoughts and it makes me feel like I’m doing something productive rather than just sitting around all day doing nothing.

Thoughts: Got7’s “One and Only You” Special Video

Have you seen Got7’s special video for the song “One and Only You”? 

I know that it’s been out for a while now and I have already watched it multiple times. But I’m just posting about it now because I wasn’t able to really take time to sit and think through what I wanted to write. Also, I was having a hard time trying to think of what to write because at the time when I first watched it, I was just super excited about it. Especially after hearing how upbeat it was compared to “You Are”.

Another thing that ran through my mind was how short it was. When I watched it for the first time, I felt like it ended too soon. Up until now though, I still feel that way. I just wish that it was longer or they made the video for the whole song.

Another thing that ran through my mind was how good the collaboration was. I really loved it because it is such a great collaboration because Hyolyn’s voice seemed to blend really well with the boys’ voices.

All in all, it made me really excited for their next comeback.

Got7’s 4th Year Anniversary!!!

Hello!

I just wanted to drop by and write a short appreciation post about Got7 since today is their 4th anniversary.

One of the biggest things that I want to thank them for is that they got me really into Kpop. They really got me to appreciate a new genre in music that I used to not pay much attention to. I also appreciate all the hard work that they put into their songs and choreography. I can’t believe that they write some of their own songs and they choreograph some of their dance steps as well.

Another thing that I want to thank them for is being themselves. They’re a group that’s so entertaining to watch on their interviews and other appearances because they’re just so charming and funny.  Also, when I watch them, I just feel like they’re really close friends or even brothers. That makes it really nice to watch them and how they interact with each other.

All in all, I just wanted to thank them for bringing happiness to me because I haven’t really fangirled this much in such a long time. And as a fan, supporting them brings me a lot of joy because it helps me de-stress.

Thoughts: “Teenager” Performance Video

So in the last post I mentioned that I might make a post about what I thought about Got7’s “Teenager” performance video after watching it. And as you may notice…. I decided to do just that.

It didn’t actually take me this long to finally watch it but I didn’t want to write two posts about them in the same day because I know that not everyone might appreciate me doing that. So, I decided to space it out a little by writing this a few days later. But don’t worry because the thoughts that I would write here were the thoughts that I had while I was watching the video and maybe some of my thoughts after.

So I think I should begin this by saying that it’s not really the first time that I’ve heard the song because I’ve listened to it a lot ever since the “7 for 7” album came out. However, it was still interesting for me to see the video because I like that song. I think it kinda sounds different to me because I feel like it’s not like most of the songs I’ve heard before. But I think it’s different in a good and refreshing way.

(Sorry that that's all I can say about the music because I can’t really say much about it because I’m not really that knowledgeable about technical aspects of music. All I know is that if I like listening to the song then it’s good for me.)

Moving on to what I thought of the overall look of the performance video, I think the boys looked really good in the video. That’s not really that surprising to me because I’ve seen all of their music videos in the past several months that I’ve been a fan and I’ve always thought that they looked good in the videos. I don’t know if it’s just the fangirl in me so I’ll let you decide that for yourself when (or if) you watch the video.

I also liked the black and white and the colored shots because it kind of felt like it belonged with the song. Also, I think that it helped them pull off a sexy and cute look at the same time.

I think that that’s all I have to say. Sorry that it was short and maybe unhelpful but I hope you might get what I was meaning to say.

Proud Aghase and Music Videos Streaming

Hello!

So I think that you may know that I’ve been a fan of Got7 for a few months now. I have written about them before when their music video for “You Are” came out.

I’ve been wanting to write about them again for a while now but things keep popping up that requires my attention. Anyways… what pushed me to finally write about them again is because I’m so happy for them especially with the fairly recent happenings. 

So just last week, one of their music videos titled “If You Do” reached a hundred million views. Also, they won two awards at MAMA 2017. I believe that the awards they won were Worldwide Performer and Favorite K-Pop Star. As I have said, I am super happy for them. I’m also so proud that they won awards  because I feel like they really deserve it and based from what I’ve seen from different fan pages, I somehow feel like it’s about time they get more recognized especially after their comeback with “You Are”. I hope they win more awards in the future.

So… right now, I think most Aghases/IGot7s (their fandom name) are trying to stream two other music videos so that those music videos would also reach a hundred million views each. I just wanted to share that here because I’m trying to support that project by trying to stream these music videos as well. I’m not really that familiar with the rules of streaming yet but I think it helps if I just watch the music videos from start to finish as much as I can. I think the music videos are great anyways so it’s not really a problem to watch them on loop because I love them. (But if you can clarify for me the rules of video streaming for Youtube, you can comment them or message them to me because I really want to know.)

By the way, I just recently found out that they released a performance video for “Teenager” which is a song that’s in the same album as “You Are”. I might also write about what I think about it in a post when I finish watching it.

Got7 Comeback!!! (7 FOR 7)

Hello!

I’m back again!!! I apologize that I don’t post as often as I used to but that’s mostly because I’m preparing for something and I kind of feel like I don’t really have much to say anyway. 

Anyways…

I’m writing today because I just can’t contain how excited I am about Got7’s new album. I’m writing this post feeling that excitement so I feel like I really need to share that to everyone right now. 

As I might have mentioned before, Got7 is the first Kpop group that got me really interested in Kpop. And since I only came across them and their music fairly recently, this is the first comeback that I’m witnessing as it came out so it’s really super exciting for me.

So basically, I wrote this blog post because I just wanted to share my excitement and at the same time I want to kind of document it here on my blog. 

So today, I watched the official music video of “You Are” on Youtube and I loved every second of it. I also really loved the song so if you want to check it out, I’ll leave the link down below. I think I watched it for more than five times by now and I’m still not tired of it which is something big for me because I get tired of rewatching music videos after watching them for at least two times no matter how much I like the artist.

Newfound Interest: Korean Series and Got7!!!

I recently got really into watching Korean series. I’ve loved watching them for a few months now. I’ve found them quite fun and relaxing to watch especially during the last few months of school. From the time I started watching, I’ve already finished a couple of them and I’m also in the process of looking for more.

The series that initially got me really hooked on watching Korean dramas were Love in the Moonlight, Goblin, and The Heirs. I know that The Heirs is way older compared to the first two but I really enjoyed it as well. 

I think that I got hooked into them because the actors and actresses were quite refreshing to watch as they portrayed their respective characters. Also, it greatly helped that I thought that some of the actors were quite attractive.

So… most of the series that I’ve watched are classified as romance and then the others that I’ve watched are reality shows. It’s not really a big surprise that I watched a lot of shows under romance because that’s the genre that I usually have a tendency to enjoy watching especially romantic comedies. What surprised me was how much I enjoyed some of their reality shows. I really loved watching Roommates and Return of Superman. Basically, Roommates is a show that portrayed what it was like for a number of celebrities to share a home together and Return of Superman is a show that was about how famous dads raise their kids or how they spend time with them. It gives the dad opportunities to be truly present in their children’s lives. What I loved about these shows is that they weren’t as dramatic compared to reality shows that I’ve grown accustomed to.

I also, more recently, started listening to Got7. I learned about them through the show Roommates because in season 2, Jackson was there and he frequently mentioned his group which made me curious about them. After watching some of their music videos on Youtube, I got really into Got7 and their music. I think that they seem really cool and fun and I look forward to more projects from them.
